Improved Identification of Brain Tumors Using Deep Learning and Computer Vision

The Problem

Clinicians generally use MRIs and biopsies for diagnosis of brain tumors. While biopsies are considered the standard to help identify the type of tumor, they are invasive. Researchers are therefore trying to develop a diagnostic that relies on MRI scans.

Solution

A Deep Learning Computer Vision model can be deployed on Kranium to analyse historical scan data and it can be trained to identify and classify different types of tumors from MRI scans. In addition, the model can also mark specific affected portion of the MRI scan images to show why it made a positive diagnosis. Such models can be of great use to neuroradiologists in diagnosis and help deliver better care.
